Are Scientists Being Paid to Hide the Harmful Effects of Sugar?

Sugar is one of those ingredients that is loved by everyone. After all, it is what makes food so sweet! Even though our body uses it as a source of energy, too much sugar can cause major problems. In fact, according to Healthline:

"a high-sugar diet may lead to obesity and insulin resistance, both of which are risk factors for diabetes."

Moreover, a diet which includes too much sugar may lead to excessive weight gain, it may increase your risk of heart disease, may cause acne and it has also been linked to cancer and depression! It may also fasten the skin and cellular aging process among other things.

Foodnews says that “the true nature of sugar has long been suppressed by a greedy, profit-driven industry”. It is scary to think that there may be even the slightest possibility that this is true! Consumers have been fooled into thinking that ‘fat free’ and ‘low fat’ foods are the “healthier” alternatives to food containing fat. However, these products are usually

"loaded up with sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, or some other alternative that us far worse than fat. "

Obviously, the food industry does not want its consumers to be aware of this since this would mean a decrease in profit. The deception of the sugar industry all started with a fraud. The sugar industry has been hiding this information since the 1960s when according to Natural Health 365, the Sugar Research Foundation (now known as the Sugar Association) paid off three Harvard scientists in 1967 to twists their fat, sugar and heart disease research.

It was only recently that an article was published in JAMA International Medicine which unveiled the truth of the past. The SRF (Sugar Research Foundation) had been used by the sugar industry to fund research on sugar for decades. After becoming conscious of how profitable “the 'right' science” could be in 1954, the SRF president declared that Americans could be persuaded to follow a low-fat diet and if the calories which would have otherwise come from fat are replaced by sugar, then both sugar consumption and profit could increase by 30 percent!

Later, bad news emerged that sugar was not healthy for people and it was actually the primary source of disease. This however did not stop the SRF from fooling its consumers and securing sugar’s place at the top of the food chain by using fake science and propaganda!
